It differs from general rafting adventure novels focusing on finding self. " Life of Pi " presents the theme of juvenile getting enlightenment and growth after adventure. It also describe the problem of human nature and mind. The theme has transcended past drift literature, including the views of ecology, religion and human nature.
This study analyzed the content attributes, themes and writing skills of " Life of Pi ". To fully explore the theme, this study also analyze Yann Martel''s life and works, and explore the history and religion of India, in order to understand the background of " Life of Pi ".
The study found that " Life of Pi " show the trial of mind and human nature when human face difficulties. Yann Martel formed another kind of open ending by two different stories to convey many possibles of human nature. Yann Martel point out the self-centred question of " human " from different views on ecology and religion. There is no absolute way to solve the ecological problem. People should have more thinking and approach. Every religion has the same hope for good and love. Religion doesn''t ask people to choose the only true God. As long as the deep faith , the " God " in mind is true.
