This thesis analyze the current supply chain of electronic related materials and problems it is facing through investigation of company B as it tries to find its core competitive advantages in this drastically changing environment by combining “information technology” and “distribution systems” to create an open platform that facilitates supply and demand. Through this study, we will investigate the challenges and solutions generated by this open commercial platform for electronic related materials.
This thesis uses qualitative research methods to survey industry information, making corporate interviews, and put together these gathered data then analyze them accordingly. Company B in the case study will help explain how it switched from a company that is product oriented into a service oriented company, changing its corporate value system completely and provides its customers with brand new service experience and multiple cooperating methods, generating value in the electrical material supply chain by being innovative.
New business model will have its imperfections for sure, as destructive innovative process too could create resistance, but in the ever competitive electrical material supply chain industry, being innovative in business model would always be the key for future outlooks and making important strategic decisions.
