A total of 91 intermediate graders were assessed on character recognition, reading comprehension, phonological awareness tasks and morphological awareness tasks. The results of the study show that: 1.Children of immigrant resident and Taiwanese had no significant performance in phonological awareness, morphological awareness and chinese literacy ability. 2.For children of immigrant resident and Taiwanese, phonological awareness, morphological awareness were correlated significantly with character recognition and reading comprehension. 3.
