碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 視覺藝術學系 === 100 === The clock is ticking. The time passes by second by second. This is not the real appearance of Time. Time flows as rivers run forwards and never reverse. It is like human being’s lives from start to end without an option named Regret. We are able neither to catch time nor to see it. We can only the intangible time by the sounds of clicks ticking. What is “Space”? It’s not just a physical environment we exist in. Also, it is not just a place surrounded by the concrete walls. The one that allows us to see is not the real appearance of space. The issues of Time and Space have been discussed by people in science and literature fields for thousands of years and never end. Similarly, they are also the most important topics in the creation for artists. For the past thousands of years, all the creators continually think and research how to display the true essence of time and space by tools. However, what is the real appearance of time and space? In order to understand the time and space deeply and display them in visual arts, I collected the relative researches in the fields of science and literature. Moreover, I summarized and analyzed the new concept of time and space in the performance of 2D visual arts. The thesis is based on the “Conversion of Time and Space” and focused on the occurrence of the conversion. So this paper is divided into three parts to research. First, through the scientific papers, the meanings of time and space can be categorized as physical and ideological aspects. The physical time and space are discussed to explore their real appearance. Ideological time and space are discussed to explore the essence of them according to the philosophy. Second, according the papers, I used the logical concept to find out and conclude a new concept of time and space with further explanation. Third, on the basis of the new logical concept of time and space, I collected relevant visual artistic works and combine them with film images to prove the new concept of a new time and space. The researches indicate that time and space are not just the combination of geometry space proposed by Euclid and the absolute time and space proposed by Newton. Furthermore, it’s a new logical space and can be convertible. In visual arts, 2D images have been the media for human being to present 3D world. Nowadays, time and space have a brand-new shape. They present more diverse special sense in visual arts. The links between audience and screen generate a new fold and combination of Time and Space.
