Owing to work duties mainly responsible by military officers, the military officers must stay with troops from time to time for work-shift. As a result of lacking of participation in family, it made Coast Guard staff more difficult to fulfill the requirements of family.
The demands of work and family are not always compatible, leading to conflict between the two sides, which may generate the job stress. In this study, it is crucial and worth researching how the supervisors reduced the subordinates’ job stress and family interference. This study aims to investigate the relationship and the current situation among supervisor leadership style, work-family conflict and job stress for the Coast Guard staff in Penghu. The target participants were Coast Guard staff in Penghu. Total of 300 questionnaires were sent out, and 290 copies were valid. A variety of statistical methods were used to assess the data collected, including descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results are as follows: (1) supervisor leadership style significantly negative influenced work-family conflict; (2) supervisor leadership style significantly negative influenced the job stress; (3) the work-family conflict significantly positive influenced the job stress; (4) the supervisor leadership style has partial moderating effect between work-family conflict and job stress. In accordance with the research objective and observations, the supervisors or leaders shall value the problems of work-family conflict. He or she ought to know the appropriate leadership style used to decrease job stress and inspire work moral in the organization.
