Description
Summary:碩士 === 南開科技大學 === 福祉科技與服務管理所 === 100 === With the coming of aging society and the change of the family structure, the elderly are having difficulties in their daily life due to their aging. In addition, more and more elders have to live alone, and it is often reported that elders are having accidents at home. Therefore, this research was considered about the comfort and safety of the living environment that the elders need. In this research, seven elder residents who had clear consciousness and had been living in Jiji and Sueuili Township at Nantou County for more than 30 years were interviewed. With this interview, we would like to find out what the inconvenience brought to them due to the aging and changes of the living environment, what the requirement of facilities and housing they need were, what the difference of facilities and housing for elders from different family and with different health condition was, and what their expectation was toward the elder policy of the government. After the observation and analysis of the data, we had come up with the following results: (1) Physical degeneration and illness were still the critical factor to issue of elders’ living. (2) Safety was the most important thing to the elderly and then comes the convenience and privacy. (3) The first important thing regarding the facilities was the medical care and then comes the leisure facilities. (4) The main factor of choosing the living environment was how familiar they were with it and if they were able to live with their family. (5) Improvement of the public space safety was urgently required. (6) The elderly were not familiar with the government policy. (7) We had to pay attention to the elderly’s dignity, right, and mental comfort. With regard to the senior housing policy, the following suggestions had been made for the government authorities’ reference: (1) To proactively promote the elderly housing policy and living subsidy. (2) To pay attention to the difference among different counties and to adopt flexible subsidy policy. (3) To enhance the safety of the public space. (4) Living environment design should focus more on the mental health of the elderly. Keywords: Family structure, Leisure facility, Senior housing, Mental health
