The busier life and diminishing social circle make the traditional matchmaking between marriageable men and women impractical, with more and more people resorting to the internet matchmaker website. When looking for their lovers, the platform that offers emotional life happens. Recent studies reveal that the rate of married people aging from 25-29 in Taiwan is as low as 32.15%. The decrease of marriage rate indirectly influences the completeness of the society and the development of the country, which is a real problem. The results show that the personalities of users on dating websites do not have a significant influence on their degree of self-disclosure and closeness. However, self-disclosure is significantly positively correlated with closeness; and social presence is moderately positively correlated with closeness. According to the results above, for single adults who visit dating websites, the degree of self-disclosure and closeness observed was not influenced by their personalities. With both self-disclosure and social presence, it’s easier to establish closeness, which indicates that online dating websites are a viable choice for single adults attempting to find their mate.
