Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 美術學系 === 100 === Yuanshi, a work written by the celebrated literary theorist Xie Ye in Qing Dynasty, is a piece of literary work that thematically opposes the literary renaissance as the primarily purpose of writing in order to generate the basic contention of this work. This work demonstrates that the past learning is a reconstruction of imitation and drawing, which is an issue that the Chinese art practitioners will inevitably face. With this idea in mind, the relevant investigation will then be made along with the intellectual communication with the natural beauty, the renovation of the modern Chinese ink painting, and the personal reflection towards the present milieus.
The whole thesis will be divided into the following parts: (1) a reflection toward the learning process in my college time; (2) the relevant issues: both Pinping (literally as to taste and comment) and the imitative attitude in the Chinese ink painting have exerted profound impact on my artwork, helping me investigate the essence of my work expression; (3) the theoretical foundation: Laozi’s thought, Confucius’s thought, and the contemporary art movement are the sources of my art creation; (4) the research themes and content: the research on both of my series works, Non-image and Lanshanshui (literally as Inundated Mountains and Water); and (5) conclusion: a reflection and reexamination will be made to discuss my present work.
The development of both Chinese painting and Chinese ink painting reflects the integration and the struggle between China and the West in the recent centuries, despite the fact that the western art movements in the periods were confronting multiple challenges and inspirations from the aesthetics. Laozi has in his discourse of Guanqimiao (literally as observing the nuances) and Guanqijiao (literarily as observing the initiation) proposed a comprehensive horizon, which corresponds to the contemporary art movement. The changes and challenges in life as well as the correspondence between the external milieu and the internal life process are indeed the essence of my artwork.
