Studies have shown that one will receive higher satisfaction from work if his/her interests and occupation are matched. This study is designed to explore what internal factors affect vocational interests. Data samples are collected from senior students in academic year 2010. In addition to collecting data via Career Interest Inventory, at the same time the study also provides instant vocational interests’ results to participating students to help them in occupation selection and career planning. The questionnaire of “The Factors effect vocational interests”, was developed for this study, and“Career Interest Inventory,CII-R”. The total sampling size was 449, and the effective questionnaires were 424. The successful rate was 94.43%. The results of the survey were used for data analysis. The statistic methods includes Descriptive Analysis、t-test & MANOVA、Chi-square test、Correlation Analysis、Multiple Regression Analysis、Logistic regression analysis. According to the results of this study, the conclusions are summarized as follows: 1.Of the six interest categories, Interpersonal receives the highest average score and Pragmatic receives the lowest score. Most students have a high consistency and differentiation of vocational interests. 2.We found significant differences in career interest from seven background variables but no significant difference is detected consistency of vocational interests. As for the differentiation of vocational interests, there are significant differences with respect to subject and gender but no significant difference is found in other variables. 3.Using interest average score in Pearson's correlation, we test whether Holland typology holds true in our study. Our results indicate that five out of six adjacent high-consistency interests show significant correlation and one out of three diagonal low-correlations interests are negatively correlated and one is low-correlation. In general, our results comply with the theory. 4.The correlation analysis between vocational interest and Big Five Personality Traits indicates that every interest is significantly correlated to at least one personality trait. Commercial is negatively correlated to self-integration. The consistency and differentiation of vocational interests are correlated to Big Five Personality Traits and but they are not significantly correlated to self-integration and self-efficacy. 5.Multiple regression analysis shows that some personal traits, self-efficacy and self-integration have predicting effects in vocational interests. Logistic regression analysis shows that some personal traits, self-efficacy and self-integration do not have predicting effects in the consistency and differentiation of vocational interests.
