Many practitioners and researchers have presented the advantages of supply chain management in literature. In order to increase the competitive advantage many companies consider that a well-designed and implemented supply chain system is an important role. Therefore, supplier selection problem becomes the most important issue to implement a successful supply chain system. This study proposes an extension of fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) model for the evaluation of supplier. Fuzzy MCDM is a powerful and widely-used tool for evaluating and ranking problems containing multiple criteria. In line with the multi-dimensional characteristics of supplier, fuzzy MCDM provides an effective framework for supplier comparison involving the evaluation of multiple criteria. Both qualitative and quantitative criteria and the different importance weights among criteria were considered in the model. The trade-off concept is used to evaluate the ratings of alternatives and importance weights of all the criteria. The membership functions of the final evaluation values were developed by using α-cuts. A revised method for ranking fuzzy numbers using maximizing set and minimizing set is applied to defuzzify all the final fuzzy evaluation values to allow the ordering of the alternatives. Finally, a numerical example is used to illustrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed model. Keywords: Supply chain management, Supplier evaluation and selection, Fuzzy MCDM, Ranking method, Tradeoff concept. Huey-Pyng Shyu 徐蕙萍 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 87 en_US
