| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用日語研究所 === 100 === The Japanese language for the non-Japanese speaking people is often misused. Currently, the analysis of misusage in Japanese language by Taiwanese speaking people is focused on word pronunciation, character style or form, honorifics and parts of speech. Among them, character style or form and parts of speech are heavily discussed. Most studies indicate that the native language interference is one of the reasons of Japanese misusage. That is particularly true for the native speakers of Taiwanese in using the Japanese verbs. These studies on the misusage of Japanese verbs are mostly focused on a single case, which obviously can not lead to the same conclusion for the majority of non-Japanese speaking people.
This thesis is therefore focused on the survey of the beginners in Japanese language study, who are Taiwanese and have passed the level 3 test of JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test). The effective survey sample size is at 202. The reasons of language misusage will be analyzed from the viewpoint of a Taiwanese speaker. Based on the survey result, we can attribute the language misusage to the following 5 main reasons: (1). Native language interference. (2). Insufficient understanding of the verbs. (3). Carelessness on auxiliary words. (4). Misunderstanding of the meaning. (5). Mixing up the intransitive and transitive verbs.
We herein propose five (5) suggestions to correct these misusages. These suggestions will be tabulated into the guide of correct usage of Japanese verbs to help those who teach or study the Japanese language as a second language.
