Isolation of marine biofouling bacteria and screening for antibiofouling agents

碩士 === 國立高雄海洋科技大學 === 海洋生物技術研究所 === 100 === Biofouling in ocean is a very common phenomenon. Biofouling in seawater has so far been prevented by chemical disinfection reagents, such as tributyltin (TBT) and copper. However, these compounds have damaging effects on the marine environment. This experi...

Biofouling in seawater has so far been prevented by chemical disinfection reagents, such as tributyltin (TBT) and copper. However, these compounds have damaging effects on the marine environment. This experiment focused on marine microorganisms (mainly marine bacteria), isolated from Kaohsiung harbor. Among the isolated 30 marine bacterial isolates, six found on plastics submerged under the sea were probably able to produce biofilm. These bacteria were used as target organisms to screen for anti-fouling natural products, which is harmless to ocean. Three marine bacteria isolated from marine sponge in Penghu sea area and corals in national museum of marine biology and aquarium displayed inhibitory activities on the growth of N1-17. Among the eluted fractions of purple bacteria by chromatography, fraction 10 could inhibit growth of all six tested bacteria. Ming-Chyuan Chen 陳鳴泉 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 61 zh-TW
