Cultural heritage of Yuejin, ancient temple and old streets possess different cultural manners. “First is Fucheng, Second is Lugang, Third is Mengjia, and Fourth is Yuejin” was the proverb around Taiwan to describe flourishing scene in the old days. The history of Yuejin’s development was one part of Taiwan modern development. The historical sites and old buildings could not keep the original styles when the time went by. A lot of natural or man-made disasters caused the damages. The only way of restoring outer appearing of old buildings counts on the modern repairing technology. This research is going to make use of ASUS Xtion-Pro LIVE® camera. By combining with the technologies of virtual reality, we focus on several special features of Yanshuei area, such as, Qinona old streets, Octagon building, Yanshuei Firecrackers. We start develop the tour guide system. Without using traditional keyboard, mouse, the users can make the gestures of head, hands, and body’s movement to control the video games, to change the game’s set up, to access the datasets, instead. It will increase the degrees of interesting and interactive when the users play games. Furthermore, regading to Qinona old streets, we set up one video game cited from cultural material of Qinona old streets. The major goals of the game mainly help the users not only view Qinona old streets by tour guide system, but also perceive more knowledge of Qinona old streets. The points of a auto tour guide system for Octagon building concentrate on the outward appearing of the building and a virtual tour of the second floor which was not open for the public usually. Hopefully, it will help the users understand more the specialization and the history background of the building. The system will exploit the functions of a particle system provided by virtual reality system to simulate the experience of Yanshuei firecrackers. By use of heavy dense of particles and smoke, we simulate the scenes of firecrackers more real. Moreover, the vibrations of Firecrackers’ experienced suits will be included for the shocking effect when the scene of firecrackers blowing out starts. In the future, regarding to progressive development of a Yanshuei interactive guide system, two topics will be approached. First is how to link the datasets of the framework with virtual characters. It will help the users’ movements directly reflect to virtual characters’ actions. To do so, it will improve the effects of current firecrackers’ simulation. Second, the skills of 3D projection and surrounding theater will be introduced, too. It will make the users more immersive into the scenes. Hopefully, the limit of simulative effects will push up.
