Surveying from past studies, most of these researches focus on the determinants or the performance of transformation from OEM/ODM to OBM. However, studies about management mechanism that the firms needed during the transformation are rare. The purpose of this study is to explore whether the management mechanisms of value gap, information gap, potential punishment power model (VIP Model) can diminish the conflict with inter-organizational (OEM manufacturers and international brand buyer) and within-organizational (executives and employees) of the Taiwanese OEM/ODM businesses during transformation process and discuss the implications of VIP model on transformation performance. In this study, we use empirical methodology to examine Taiwanse firms that engaged in OEM/ODM and OBM. Regarding inter-organization, we find the mechanisms of “value gap management” and “information gap management” will enhance customer’s trust toward his supplier, and the mechanisms of “potential punishment power” will reduce the intentions of transfer orders of OEM’s buyers. Concerning within-organization, the mechanisms of “value gap management”, and “potential punishment power” will increase the firms to deepen their brand’s effort which will enhance their transformation performance.
