Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 臺灣語言與語文教育研究所 === 100 === The aim of this study is to examine the predictive factors which contribute to the oral proficiency in Taiwanese of the fifth-graders in central areas of Taiwan. There were 290 fifth graders participating this study. They were asked to narrate the given story after seeing the film “pear story”. Their narrations were transcribed with CLAN format. Their Fluency, MLUs (mean length of utterances), types, tokens, TTRs (Token-Type Rations) were calculated. Beside of that, each student was asked to fill out a questionnaire. In order to extract the distinct components, PCA (Principal Component Analysis) was used. That helped us to determine how many components were in fact elicited with our questionnaire. Then the components were used as predictor variables, and the oral proficiency dimensions as predicted variables. Multiple regressions were carried out for answering how well the proficiency dimension was predicted for given values of the components. After that, we checked on the predictive value of each condition within the influential factor, using the simple linear regression technique. Based on the results of regressions, the important predicted variables for the oral proficiency of the children in Taiwanese were suggested.
