School’s Innovative Climate and Effectiveness of School Innovation Management
in Elementary Schools
Abstract
This study is first to explore the current situations and the differences of elementary school principals’ strategic leadership, school’s innovative climate and effectiveness of school innovation management. Next, the interrelationships among elementary school principals’ strategic leadership, school’s innovative climate and effectiveness of school innovation management are discussed. Finally, it further explores the impact of elementary school principals’ strategic leadership, school’s innovative climate and effectiveness of school innovation management.
The research methods include literature review and questionnaire survey. The survey subjects are elementary school education officers across Taiwan areas. The research handed out 1,066 questionnaires, among which there were 820 questionnaires valid with the availability rate of 83.48%. The data is analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and SEM. The findings based on the results of the research are as follows:
1.Principals’ strategic leadership reach the high level.
2.School’s innovative climate reach the middle-high level.
3.Effectiveness of school innovation management reach the middle-high level.
4.The education officers who get the higher scores on the principals’ strategic leadership are those who are male, more than 21years of service, as a principal, school size less than 6 classes.
5.The education officers who get the higher scores on the school’s innovative climate are those who are male, more than 21years of service, as a principal, school size less than 6 classes.
6.The education officers who get the higher scores on the effectiveness of school innovation management are those who are male, institute of education, more than 21years of service, as a principal, school size less than 6 classes, and featured school.
7.There are significantly positive correlations between principals’ strategic leadership and school’s innovative climate.
8.There are significantly positive correlations between principals’ strategic leadership and effectiveness of school innovation management.
9.There are significantly positive correlations between school’s innovative climate and effectiveness of school innovation management.
10.It is mutually influential between the principals’ strategic leadership and school’s innovative climate to effectiveness of school innovation management. School’s innovative climate has the partial mediating effect between principals’ strategic leadership and effectiveness of school innovation management.
According to the research findings, some suggestions are proposed for the reference of education-related units, elementary school principals, education officers and research staff engaged in future related researches.
