This study observes the building material and construction stock index, finance and insurance stock index and residence housing price of Da’an Dist., Songshan Dist. and Hualien city from Jan. 1997 to Dec. 2011 with a total of 180 months . The empirical results suggest that (1) The residence housing price traded at Da’an Dist and Songshan Dist are the lagging indicators during expansions and the finance and insurance stock index is its lagging indicator in contraction periods. (2) The housing price traded at Da’an Dist is the lagging indicator in expansion periods. The housing price traded at Songshan Dist is the lagging indicator during contraction periods.
