Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 電機工程學系 === 100 === The latest video coding standard called high efficiency video coding (HEVC) is currently in its standardization process and expected to be the next generation video coding standard due to the significant bit-rate reduction compared to the state-of-the-art video coding standard H.264/AVC. However, the high coding performance mainly comes from the expense of massive computational complexity especially for mode decision, which occupies more than 80% of total coding time. To solve the high computation complexity problem, this thesis proposes a fast coding unit determination algorithm for HEVC by using temporal depth correlation. The early termination on current CU and PU can split current CUs into 4 sub-CUs to ignore the operation of the PU in current CU. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can achieve 37% to 65% total coding reduction with ignorable rate distortion performance degradation.
