Through the threads of the stories, the author attempts to loyally depict the teaching scenes over the past thirty years in remote Hualien. Regarding the research method, after conducting the semi-structured and un-standardized interviews with the four senior teachers, the author incorporated their stories with his own ones as research data and then transformed these data into the conceptualized text of his study. The study finds that, in addition to national policies and social changes, the major forces that shape these senior teachers’ career routes actually come from the social structure factors such as gender, social status, job-seniority, ethnicity, personal financial capabilities and the economic environment etc. The life stories of these senior teachers may seem different by nature; however, during the economic and social development, they are traceable and actually complementary to each other.
