The main purpose of this study is to explore, in addition to the fund performance, how and if CSR influences investors’ decision on mutual fund investment. This study hopes to provide some suggestions to investors on buying financial products in the future.
More and more researches on company operation indicate that CSR implementation helps to increase the service/product sales, raise customer loyalty, enhance cooperate reputation and strengthen the relationship between enterprises. CSR has indeed become a significant value for company operation. Hence in response to meet the higher consumers’ expectation on society and environment and to improve enterprise market competiveness, owners of enterprises should place more importance on CSR in regards to company operation.
The major difference between CSR fund and general mutual fund is the selection of the investment objectives. The former has to comply with CSR standard and is far more stable in terms of risk tolerance. Although, the fairly small numbers of CSR fund in Taiwan compound with relatively slow global economy recovery stifle its continuous development. However, the structural framework of CSR fund is formed. It is believed that CSR fund will become a new trend based on its long-term, low- risk investment characteristics, rising consumer awareness and enterprises seeking for clients as well as investors’ recognition.
