Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 國際企業學系 === 100 === The forward thinking focus of the green environmental movement has resulted in such a change in attitude that companies must now incorporate an environmental economics perspective into their whole business operational plan. Finding a balance between the increases in costs due to environmental investment and how to the maximize stockholders’ equity, while at the same time satisfying the pubic expectation is an important subject that needs to be examined. This thesis uses a real options approach to assess 1) the project value associated with developing green goodwill, 2) a firm’s engagement at different levels of the green market, 3) the factors that influence the decision of whether to invest in green capital, and 4) the potential strategic value of being a leader or follower in the market. This thesis aims to provide a preliminary analysis of environmental economics issues and to discuss the relationships induced by investing in green capital. This thesis will build on the previous research to develop an environmental economics model to provide a reference for decision making in practice.
