Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 特殊教育學系 === 100 === The purpose of this study were to investigate the current status of parent-teacher communication between teachers regular classes in Hualien County and parents of students with special needs, teachers’ coping strategies as well as their difficulties in Hualien. The participants of the study were primary school regular class homeroom teachers with special needs students at the school year of 2011. The study used survey method to collect data. Stratified proportional cluster random sampling were used. A total of 240 valid questionnaires were obtained. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t test, one-way ANOVA, product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis. The following results were obtained: 1.Journal was the most frequently used for daily communication, and E-mail was the least used. 2.The content of communication mostly were behavioral problems of students with special need, problems with school studies and peer relationships. 3.Journal, telephone interview or home visting were more likely to be used. 4.The class bulletin, class homepage, and written materials to provide information about school activities were less likely to be used. 5.Parents’ busy workloads made teacher no opportunities to communicate with parents was the most problematic issue of parent-teacher communication. 6.There was a negative correlation between teachers’ initiating communication, creating communication opportunities, degree of empathy and acceptance, and overall communication problem. In addition, the teachers’ degree of empathy and acceptance also appeared negative correlation with the Chinese speaking ability of parents. Finally, based on the results, suggestions for future studies and application were made for field practices needs.
