碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 特殊教育學系 === 100 === This study assessed whether two persons with mental retarded would be able to actively perform the hand function activity by controlling their favorite environmental stimulation using a computer mouse with a newly developed object location detection program（OLDP, i.e., a new software program turning a computer mouse into an object location detector）. This study followed a multiple probe design across subjects. It was divided into three phrases, baseline, intervention and maintenance. Data shows the efficiency of the hand function activity of subject A was 5.4（times/3mins） and 4.4（times/3mins） of subject B in the baseline phase. Then after the favorite environmental stimulation was intervened , the former elevated to 13.55（times/3mins）and 12（times/3mins）. In the maintenance phase, the average efficiency was 14.4（times/3mins）and 11.6（times/3mins）（times/3mins）respectively. Deta shows both participants significantly increased their target response（performing the hand function activity）to activate the control system to produce environmental stimulation during the intervention phrase. Practical and developmental implications of the finding are discussed.
