In this study, “Medical costs” and the “Number of beds” are used as input factors as well as “Monthly visits by patients”, “Basic bonus”, “Self-liquidation ratio” and “Net profit margin” as four indicators for evaluation. Our results showed that inconsistency exists between selection of performance indicators by the authority and the acknowledgment of the same indicators by the management staffs of the hospitals. In fact, inefficiency of scale is the main cause of inefficiency in hospitals, which can be described as decreasing in scale type hospitals. Out of the 9 hospital samples, only H hospital is up to relative standards of efficiency. In conclusion, the results and recommendations for improvements of this study can be served as a reference for authorities and hospitals. Chih-Peng Chu 褚志鵬 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 71
