Variables were used to examine the dissimilarities in the self-identity of the subjects and their predictability on their own marital quality. The study adopted Questionnaire Survey Method. The married women in middle age in Yunlin County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City were chosen as the subjects by purposive sampling. The three hundred valid samples were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and stepwise regression in the SPSS software. The results of the study were listed as follows: 1. The self-identity of married women in the middle age discrepants with age. Those women who are in higher age have better self-identity. 2. The self-identity of married women in the middle age discrepants with the numbers of children they have. The self-identily of those who have two children is better than those who had three. 3. The self-identity of married women in the middle age discrepants with their education level and income. 4. The self-identity of married women in the middle age discrepants by those who are religious and those who are not. 5. The marital quality of married women in the middle age discrepants with age. 6. The marital quality of married women in the middle age discrepants with their education level and income. 7. The marital quality of married women in the middle age discrepants with their occupational prestige. The marital quality ordered from high to low in terms of their occupational prestige is : Highest, Lowest, High, and Low. 8. There is significantly correlation between the self-identity and the marital quality of married women in their middle age. 9. The marital quality can be predicted by self-identity, education background, and occupation prestige Based on the findings and conclusions of the present study, suggestions were provided to married women in their middle age, family education institutions and the further academic research.
