碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 園藝學系研究所 === 100 === The streetscape provides multiple functions such as vision, aesthetics, traffic, economy, education, ecology, and etc. The elements of the streetscape of the city include the road forms, the element, distant view of the road and people along the line of the street. Among them, level of road among them, plants, and street furniture are elements that form the road. The purpose of this study was to investigate people’s preference on the elements of urban streetscape such as streetlights. Surveys were conducted using computer-simulated virtual alternatives of street design projects in Chiayi City. The elements selected were various types of streetlight. The respondents in this experiment were asked to evaluate preference-based values of 12 alternatives by questionnaires. The results indicated that, 1. The sidewalk types would significantly influence preference. 2. Instrument chicken shaped streetlight scored the highest in terms of preference, and the traditional streetlight scored the lowest. 3. Black pavilion streetlight scored the highest in terms of preference, and the silver disc streetlight scored the lowest.
