| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 森林暨自然資源學系研究所 === 100 === Alstonia scholaris has been widely planted as a landscape plants in school campuses, parks, throughout Taiwan. Its tree health was assessed including parks, school campuses and other places. And 6 sample plots 272 plants set up to evaluate Alstonia scholaris in Chung-Wen elementary school, Nan-Hsin junior high school, Chia-Yi Home Economics Vocational high school, Shiun-Shin Park, 228 park and Tennis Courts Park in Chia-Yi city.
Our study was used the health indicators including tree height, DBH, live crown ration, crown diameter, crown density, crown transverse plane foliage, crown dieback and other auxiliary variable to assess plants in 6 sample plots.
By using principal component we analyzed the 14 factors, Results show that we extracted 5 indicators including 12 factors. The total cumulative eigenvalues of 5 indicators was 8.729 and the total variance was 72.7 %.its means the results has considerable explanatory power.
Through field observed these 5 indicators and classified the tree health of Alstonia scholaris , we want to constructed a discriminant function of forest health. As a reference about tree planting in campuses and parks , also present our recommendations for improvement.
