The stratified sampling was conducted and a total of 504 students (213 males; 291 females) were selected from 3 public senior high schools in Taoyuan country. Personal characteristics, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Adolescence in Taiwan-Long Version (IPAQ-L-A) and the Multiple Intelligence Developmental Assessment Scales Form-C (CMIDAS-C) were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics, independent t- test, and canonical correlation were used to peform statistical analysis. There were significant gender differences in moderate, vigorous, total, and sedentary PA, with females higher in sedentary PA, and males higher in the others. There were significant gender differences in linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, and naturalist intelligences. In addition, except on the linguistic and musical intelligences, the males outper-formed the females on the other intelligences. Significant collective relationship between PA and MI composites were found. One significant canonical variate pair was derived from each gender in this analysis. A positive correlation between moderate, vigorous PA (MVPA) and linguistic, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, and interpersonal intelligences was found in males, and another positive correlation between MVPA and walking, and all intelligences were found in females. In conclusion, female adolescents should be encouraged to participate more PA of different intensities. Moreover, while providing sufficient spaces, facilities and programs are strategies in promoting PA for adolescents, increase MVPA in males, MVPA and walking in females may ehance the possibility for MI development in this younger population.
