In recent years, the rapid development of MNEs has gradually become the main global economic activity. With the booming global markets, the economics inter-depends with each other. There is a close relationship among the stability of enomomy and firm performance. This close relationship further affects global economy. Knowledge-based economy characterized with new ideas, new attitude and the enormous power impacts the industrial economy. At the same time, for more than two centuries, a brilliant and intense impact of industrial economy upon the institutional environment makes institution change. Since the economic system plays a basic role, forms of economic innovation would inevitably lead to the reform of the institution system. Moreover, the existence and development of the new economy must also have a corresponding institution system. In order to survive, MNEs develop different survival strategies, facing different environments. These survival strategies become the basis momentum for coevolution. MNEs must continue to develop new technologies and capabilities so as to grow towards a favorable direction. Otherwise, there is an inevitable fate of being eliminated for MNEs. Along the continuing effort of MNEs, there is a force of market globalization as well. This study aims to explore the mutual causal reationship between product development activities of MNEs and home institutional change. Using 4833 observation of 324 firms who taking OFDI activities during 1991-2010, we find results that MNEs product development and home institutional change interms of city modenzition has mutual causal relationship. The mutual causal relationship between MNEs and home institution supports the concept of coevolution. Lin,Hsin-Mei 林欣美 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 107 zh-TW
