The types of M&A activities varied with the economy transformation. This transformation leaded to the birth of new types of M&A, such as management buyout (MBO) and leverage buyout (LBO). Because of the emergence of LBO and new financial tools, private equity firms expanded in recent years. Especially in year 2000, due to prosperity of network industry, private equity firms` investment reached a new level. Later on, followed with network industry bubbles, private equity firms had their hard time.The thesis uses case study method to investigate the impact of the Acquisitions of Domestic Banks by Private Equity Funds , Cosmos Bank is taken as an example. The conclusions from this study are as below: 1.It is debatable whether the costs/benefits of hiring from competitors are up to original expectations of private equity funds. 2.Besides financial manipulations, Private equity funds need to focus more on bank's business development in order to precisely elevate the bank's value.
