On one hand, it changes the role of policy making and policy design that the nation used to be. On the other hand, we could find out the importance of urban city these years through lots of researches about urban competitiveness. But most of them are about the subject of economics instead of social welfare. Therefore, I attempted to make a study of urban competitiveness of social welfare in Taiwan with the application of DEA. Main findings of this study include: (1) the importance of urban competitiveness; (2) the particularity of urban competitiveness of social welfare; (3) dilemma in the study; (4) the performance of social welfare competitiveness of cities. This study is the first one which deals with the topic of the urban competitiveness of social welfare in Taiwan, so several suggestions were proposed to the researchers who have interest in the subject, and wish them could be helpful.
