According to recent researches, we know that it is really difficult to get a pair of right/perfect shoe. Comfort is affected by lots of factors, for example, the length of shoes, the width of the shoes and the hardness of the midsole. If there is any wrong part of shoe, it would make the wearers feel uncomfortable. Most of the recent researches are about that how people react on some characteristics of shoes. This study aim to discover what would influences users’ functional perception. Two parts of experiments are included. First experiment is trying to discover the effects of different amount of shoes, and second one is the effect of functional testing and the brands and appearance of shoes.
30 males without lower extremity injuries in past 6 months were recruited. One way ANOVA was used to determine the differences between different situations. When the amount of testing shoes is three pairs, there would be the highest score of all of the testing shoes. The subjects would get confused about the characteristics of shoes when the amount of testing shoes is five, which means the users couldn’t make correct estimation. More than 50% of subjects would give shoes a higher score after the functional testing and seeing the brands and appearance of shoes. The suggestions of this study are:1. Never trying more than five shoes when buying shoes. 2. Functional testing may be a good way for the seller to market their shoes. 3.Aavoiding the differences of the brands and appearances is important for the researches of testing the characteristics of shoes in the future
