Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 100 === Furniture showroom is the subject of this design project. An architectural design, usually, derives from the local culture of its site. My personal approach in this design, however, goes the other way which is to take foreign spacial performance as a paradigm to create a new form of furniture showroom in Taiwan. This design thesis consists of three parts: 1, Taiwan vs Scandinavia From my observations of the physical environment of Taiwan, I found that restlessness is the symptom of this ill island. My suggestion is to utilize the feature of calmness and sense, which comes from Scandinavia, as the remedy for our restlessness. 2, Furniture Showroom I assign myself this design subject “Nordic furniture showroom” through which I hope to catch the trait of Scandinavia. Exploring the nature of furniture and of showroom, I sugget it could be a stage setting to present a unique spatial experience. 3, Design Operation Being the most obvious facet in Nordic landscape, glacier will be used as my design reference model. Also, Nordic natural images such as fiord, cave, river, and night sky are my inspirations. Peaceful and elegant sceneries in the furniture showroom is my goal to let visitors enjoy Nordic atmosphere. Taiwan is not Scandinavia, and does not need to be Scandinavia. The calmness and sense of Scandinavia will be a remedy for the restlessness of Taiwan.
