Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 企業管理學系專班 === 100 === This research involved discovering how intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of overseas investment influenced the ownership structures as well as overseas investing performances toward Taiwanese Foreign direct investments (FDI). Targeting on manufacturing enterprises in southern Taiwan, a questionnaire survey with 118 effective samples was used for investigating the causal relation amongst factors of the project. In order to verify the relation amongst factors, this author used the statistical software EView performed regression analysis with dependent variables of the ownership structure and corporate performance of Taiwanese FDI, while the independent variables included the host country and motherland factors, the extrinsic motivation, as well as internal advantages of enterprises, the intrinsic motivation. The analysis presented that, firstly, a sole-source investing towards the foreign direct investment would be considered in the case of a low production cost in motherland, a discouraged motherland investing environment, and economics of scale matter. On the contrary, a joint venture would be chosen when local authorities provided diversified encouragements toward foreign enterprises as well as sufficient net work of nation relations were existed. Secondly, regarding the corporate performance, under the circumstance combining a sole-source investment, economics of scale matter and the improvement of investing environment about the host country, positive effects on the overseas investing performance of FDI would be showed. However, international managing experience and an extension of life cycle about products negatively affected the corporate performance. Finally, the performance of FDI was not affected by divisions of industry nor characteristics of industry nor name of country.
