Since formal knowledge was mastered and gathered in one by Chinese intellectuals before popular education existed, and “Literature” was the only art in the main trend which is also closely related to culture, therefore, the core concern is on how Aesthetics influenced Chinese Literature.
In analysis, for more completed understanding, the structure is designed with gradational background discovery, from the trend of traditional academic development and the growth of the related discipline, to the tendency generated in the changing era. Simultaneously, the aesthetic elements in traditional China are also explored.
In the changing era, Kuo-wei Wang is the first enthusiast who accepted Aesthetics from Western, and Yuan-pei Tsai is the leader who disseminated it to others. Caused by different interests, the former introduced Aesthetics into Chinese Literature, however, the latter even introduced it into the whole new education system. With the help of other related intellectuals, Aesthetics grew with variance.
Through the education policy, textbooks of new Literature, and related popular associations, Aesthetics got it place in the foundation of Chinese Culture and Literature. Nevertheless, as values changes with its environment, the new innovation is still innovating and even changing itself.
