Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 土木工程學系碩博士班 === 100 === An effective way for the reuse of waste pure glass and container glass as raw materials of alkali-activated binders is proposed here. Different types and various amounts of admixtures or modifiers were added in the production of waste glass alkali-activated binders to enhance their water absorption. From experimental results, it is found that the admixture and modifier which make a positive impact on the water absorption of waste glass alkali-activated binders reduce their compressive strengths. The addition of calcium-rich admixtures increases the compressive strength of waste glass alkali-activated binders but decreases their water absorption. When fly ash is used as a raw material and alkali-activated in a short time, the water absorption of alkali-activated waste glass binders can be enhanced. But, when meta-kaolin is used, the water absorption of waste glass alkali-activated binders can be increased only if they are activated by adequate amount of alkali. The best replacement of pure glass by meta-kaolin for waste glass binders alkali-activated at room temperature is 25%, resulting in a compressive strength of 26.45 MPa and a saturated water-absorption of 17%. In addition, experimental results indicate that the effect of modifiers on the water absorption of waste glass alkali-activated binders is insignificant. However, the water absorption of waste glass binders activated without alkalis can be improved significantly when the modifier PEG200 is used.
