The way can concentrate solar heat to produce higher temperature of hot water for the usage of a solar cooling or heating system. A configuration of the solar concentrator involves a solar reflector with energy concentration ratio 10, a 93% reflection efficiency of aluminum reflective surface designed by Trace pro optical simulation software, an vacuum tube as a tubular absorber, an working fluid water inside the vacuum tube, and a 2-D sun tracking system. The research finds that the efficiency of a solar concentrator has a direct relation with sky diffuse radiation ratio. The efficiency of the solar concentrator can increase 3 % with decreasing sky diffuse radiation ratio 10 %. Three years of sky diffuse radiation ratio data measured by the study shows that the monthly average diffuse radiation ratio in central Taiwan is between 20 % and 40 %.
