碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 台灣文學與跨國文化研究所 === 100 === Chiung Yao was the most dazzling star in the field of romance fiction in Taiwan. Her debut novel, Chuangwai (Outside the Window), was published in 1963, attracting much attention and responses from readers. Her literary life spanned nearly 50 years and created more than 60 books. In addition, film, television and other visual products based on her fictions were also popular around the world, causing an unstoppable “Chiung Yao Wave.” She was not only a representation of Taiwan''s modern popular literature but also a symbol of popular culture. This thesis is titled as “A study on the rewriting of early works by Chiung Yao ──Take ‘Three Variations on Plum Blossom’ as Example." The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction to explain the motivation and purpose of this study. From Chapter 2 to Chapter 4 are analysis and discussion of similarities and differences on the similar plots from the rewritten new versions and previous versions of the "Plum Blossom" texts. Chapter 5 is a comprehensive summary. Through this thesis, I hope to make a space for dialogue between the old and new works of Chiung Yao, and also reveal the changes in style, approach, subject from different periods of her works. In addition, as a fan of Chiung Yao from a young age, I look forward to arouse more academic researchers to explore Chiung Yao''s works, and re-evaluate the importance and influence of Chiung Yao in the field of popular literature in Taiwan.
