description 博士 === 國立中興大學 === 昆蟲學系所 === 100 === 132 species and 47 genera of Cicadidae (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha) from Vietnam were taxonomically revised. There are 16 species, 7 genera, and 4 tribes of Cicadettinae, 115 species, 39 genera, and 7 tribes of Cicadinae, and 1 species of Tettigadinae respectively. The relative percentage of the species richiness in Cicadinae (87.12%), Cicadettinae (12.22%) and Tettigadinae (0.76%) respectively conducted based on the revision work. According to Metcalf (1963) the cicadas species composition in Oriental region, Cicadinae is the most abundant as 85% compared to other subfamilies. It is means that Cicadinae is the majority of the fauna in Vietnam and the fauna is typically the Oriental biogeographic clade. Totally about 2,000 specimens were examined, most of them collected from 71 localities by my colleagues and myself during the stage III of cicada fauna study of vietnam (2001 to 2012). And the other materials from the museum collections of Vietnam and some Europian museums were examined during the study. One genus, Cochleopsaltria, gen. nov. and seven species, Pomponia backanensis Pham & Yang, 2009, Lemuriana vinhcuuensis Pham & Yang, 2010, Karenia hoanglienensis Pham & Yang, 2012, Chremistica sueuri sp. nov., Euterpnosia cucphuongensis Pham et al., 2010, Semia dongnaiensis sp. nov., Cochleopsaltria duffelsi sp. nov. are described as new to science. Neotanna yunnanensis Lei & Chou, 1997 and Neotanna sinensis Ouchi, 1938 are transferred to Tanna Distant, 1905 to become Tanna yunnanensis (Lei & Chou, 1997) comb. nov. and Tanna sinensis (Ouchi, 1938) comb. nov., Proretinata vemaculata Chou & Yao, 1986 is transferred to Angamiana Distant, 1890 to become Angamiana vemacula (Chou & Yao, 1986) comb. nov. There are two genera: Semia and Karenia, of Cicadinae and twenty two species are newly record to Vietnam. They belong to 18 genera and 8 tribes as following: Ambragaeana ambra Chou & Yao, 1985, Angamiana vemacula Chou & Yao, 1986, Balinta tenebricosa (Distant, 1888), Euterpnosia ruida Lei & Chou, 1997, Formotosena seebohmi (Distant, 1904), Gaeana cheni Chou & Yao, 1985, Gaeana hainanensis Chou & Yao, 1985, Hea yunnanensis Chou & Yao, 1995, Inthaxara flexa Lei & Li, 1996, Katoa chlorotica Chou & Lu, 1997, Megapomponia sitesi Lee & Sanborn, 2010, Mogannia effecta Distant, 1892, Nipponosemia guangxiensis Chou & Wang, 1993, Paratalainga yunnanensis Chou & Lei, 1992, Purana guttularis (Walker, 1858), Scolopita lusiplex Chou & Lei, 1997, Sinosemia shirakii Matsumura, 1927, Sulphogaeana dolicha Lei, 1997, Tanna sinensis Ouchi, 1938, Tanna yunnanensis Lei & Chou, 1997. One of these, Katoa chlorotica, is the first representative of the subfamily Tettigadinae and the tribe Tibicini for Vietnam. Eight species: Platypleura mira Distant, 1904, Oxypleura calypso Kirby, 1888, Gaeana laosensis Distant, 1917, Gaeana vestita Distant, 1905, Haphsa fratercula Distant, 1917, Haphsa opercularis Distant, 1917, Macrosemia divergens (Distant, 1917), Macrosemia assamensis (Distant, 1905) are considered as erroneously recorded from Vietnam. Key to all taxa of Vietnamese cicadas provided in this dissertation for identification. The distribution patterns of the cicada species from Vietnam in terms of zoogeography and altitude are analyzed and discussed to find the distribution pattern corresponding to the natural history of Vietnam. The zoogeography of the subfamily Cicadinae with 39 genera, is treated as example in this study. Based on the collecting data the distribution records of 132 species analysed and found that the species richness of the Vietnamese cicada fauna more in north (69 records) than south (12 records) and central area is in central (45 records). To the distribution rage the most common group distributed over entire country is 24 records, cover norh and center areas is 26 records and only one record cover center and south areas. The altitudinal distribution patterns showed the cicada species number distributed in the elevation ranged from 300 to 1200 is the most abundant part of occurrence (98 records) compare to the lowest part (38 records) and the highest part (24 records). The cicada fauna with 126 species belongs to the oriental region endemism and 24 species belong to Vietnam endemism.
