碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 中國文學系所 === 100 === This thesis looks into the themes concerning long-lasting memories and pedological education under the historical context of Japanese Ruling, studying the authors’ alternate arrangement of plot between reality and imagination from three juvenile novels written in that era- “Smart Dad,” “Sunset in Taipei City,” “Plane Building by a Taiwanese Soldier.” The research sets an aim at the authors’ intention to raise issues concerning education and their notion of human sentiments and ethnic identification in Taiwanese society under Japanese reign. The statement will set basis on the fact that each author, having chosen different materials for the stories, adopted diverse narratives and methods of conveying the plots. Four analytical methods were drawn for perceiving the stories: “historical research method” for a comprehensive perception of the historical background; “text analytical method” for analysis of the plot, the characters, and the language; “educational psychology method” for analyzing the sentimentality and actions of the children in the stories; and “comprehensive analytical method” for a conclusive analysis. Given the limited number of literary works with such context, the three novels are considered rather valuable with regard to multiple issues in the last years of the Japanese governance: the ethnic mergence and conflict, domestic morality, juvenile development, and ethnic identification. The aforementioned issues help picture the original images conveyed to readers. The existing juvenile novels in Taiwan are faced with a lack of readers, a situation that seeks breakthrough from multi-dimensional narration of stories.
