In order to ease the operation, the cross-bar of a box-frame may be removed. This may lead to the collapse of the box-frame or the falling of construction workers and, therefore, result in industrial safety incident. Utilizing both physical loading test and questionnaire survey, this study explores the loading capability of a box-frame and the experience feedback from the construction practitioners. The physical loading test is conducted on a single-row, three-layer box-frame, trading off cross-bar or horizontal-bard on single side or both sides. This research is conducted on 4 groups of box-frame construction, numbered by 0423type-0, 0423type-1,0423 type-2 and 0423type-3. The results from loading test showed that the box-frame with cross-bars installed on both sides withstand the highest load. If the cross-bar on a single side is replaced with a horizontal-bar, the loading capability is reduced to 78.4%. Furthermore, if the cross-bar is removed on one side, the loading capability is reduced to 55% while the loading capability will be reduced to 6.5% if both sides of cross-bar are removed. Questionnaire survey showed that 74.5% of the construction practitioners are willing to adopt the suggestion of "replacing a cross-bar with a horizontal-bar on single side. Furthermore, 18% of the practitioners expressed strongly their complete willingness to adopt the suggestion. Meanwhile, the weighted ratio is only 45% to 54% on the ability to implement Point 6 of “Box-Frame Operation Safety Guideline and Inspection Key Points”. 林宜清 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 122 zh-TW
