With the green wave sweeping the globe, the world begins to address the reduction of waste and carbon emissions on the importance of the global environment. As the greatest impact on the environment comes from manufacturing activities, major economy bodies have set the relevant laws and regulations, such as disabling harmful substances or manufacturer recycling responsibility to force companies to meet the green standards. This paper presents the research of mass customization of a small Rectifying Diode manufacturing company A. As a result of adopting green production (producing with environment protection in mind), the need for mass production is immediate for company A as sales grow and customers diversifies. Modulated product design, modulated & redesigned manufacturing process, smaller production batch size and adaptive production line work forces are discussed in this paper for company A to meet the challenge. Key capabilities for company A are suggested: spec conformation, controlled product design, modulated manufacturing process and flexible product assembly.
