and is still increasing every year. If each channel broadcasts three premiere shows averagely
each day, then the total amount of premiere shows broadcasted each single day is well over
three hundreds. However, how many of them can have the audience really stay on?
Audience’s every minute TV show viewing will impact the TV show viewing rating, which
results in the TV station companies business revenue. Therefore all TV station companies
will do everything they can to keep the audience staying on. How to make the audience to
stay on? In addition to the program content has to fulfill the demand of the viewing audience,
the production team reputation and ability, the execution capability, and the marketing
promotions are all likely to affect whether the viewing audience will stay on. The subject of
this study is trying to build a TV show viewing rating selection model for comprehensive
entertainment TV channel programs, and this analysis result can be used for the TV shows
evaluation purpose adopted by TV station companies.
This study is to establish a systematic algorithm on TV program assessment in fuzzy
environment. Firstly, refer to the literatures and interviews with TV channel directors to
summarize the criteria and sub-criteria of TV program assessment and establish the
hierarchical structure of Taiwan''s comprehensive entertainment channel selection program.
Secondly, to compare and match to decide the weighting ratio, use linguistic variables to
convert to triangular fuzzy number for multi-criteria decision-making method, and to use the
importance of sub-criteria and plan satisfaction sub-criteria for scoring. Lastly, to integrate
the hierarchic structure for the comprehensive evaluation of all sub-criteria, then make the
use of Chen’s fuzzy numeric ranking method to figure out the best program planning case.
In this study, we use Super TV Station Company as an instance in the manipulation of
human decision-making patterns on proceeding programs assessment, and intend to offer a
decision-making pattern of TV programs evaluation for TV station companies.
