The competency model’s content integrity and have reliability and validity.This study, according to the competency model to build the competency scale. The competency includes nine competencies. Industry wide technical competency is including general knowledge and skill of retail, and it’s similar to the store manager’s work content of this study’s compilation. Industry wide technical competency is including five sub- competency, they are sales, customer service, merchandising/ retailing, operations and human resources.
This study uses the literature review and expert opinion investigation to build the description of behavior, and use behaviorally anchored rating scale to develop the competencies scale. The competencies scale has reliability and validity.
Outstanding store manager should obtain by selection and training, this competency scale can not only use in selection and training, but also build the assessment system and specific index.
