Construction coordination is among the most critical factors to the success of a construction project. In practice, the implementation of construction coordination by most project teams is substantially manually. Construction coordination was accomplished through 2D CAD drawings. This approach became a heavy burden to the project team due to the tremendous amount of information that must be manually pieced together to integrate a comprehensive plan. Along with current development of computer technology, Building Information Modeling (BIM) offers a more effective method for construction coordination and information integration. Therefore, this research applies BIM tools to improve the effectiveness of construction coordination. From the findings of the case study, the applications of BIM tools in design clash detection, sequencing clash check and schedule simulation ensure the consistency and reliability of construction coordination. Furthermore, the proposed methods have demonstrated the efficiency and feasibility in construction management and decision making.
