Summary: | 碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 財稅與會計資訊研究所 === 100 === This study employs the difference-in-difference method to analyze the effects of minimum wage adjustments on the wage gap between the public and private sector. The data of Taiwan’s Manpower Utilization Surveys from 1994 to 2010 was used. The empirical results show that the policies of minimum wage adjustment could not effectively reduce the wage gap between the public and private sector in 1997 and 2007. The minimum wage adjustment policies were in vain. As far as the subsample was concerned, the results show that the policies of minimum wage adjustment could not reduce the wage gap between the public and private sector in the groups with low level of education and older workers. These results imply that the wage adjustments of private sector were slow. There was a risk of wage rigidity.
