Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 模具工程系 === 100 === This study is to depositing Boron on SKD61 tool steel using solid thermal reactive diffusion (TRD) method. Under controlling process parameters such as pretreatment of nitriding, deposition temperature and quench/tempering, the properties of coating’s thickness, coating’s hardness, adhesion, abrasion resistance and hot-forging performance for the Boride layer are detected, and the microstructure of the coating and its crystalline structure are examined by SEM/EDS and XRD, respective-ly.
The results show that the deposition temperature has the strongest effect on film’s thickness with 15-70 μm range, while the pretreatment of nitriding can enhance increasing the film’s thickness at lower deposition temperature of 800℃ but has the inverse effect at higher temperature of 900℃. The HV hardness of the Boride ranges with 1900-2100 HV. The HV hardness after quench/tempering process for Boride layer formed at the various conditions but 900℃ deposition temperature. The boride also may have much better adhesion and hardness. The hot-forging performance test shows its proportional effect on the abrasion resistance and Boride on SKD61 has definite performance of hot forging. In addition are analyzed by SEM/EDS and the Fe2B crystal structure in found by XRD for the Boride on SKD61,and most Boride depositied SKD61 may have better abrasion resistance than substrate SKD61 with the same heat treatment.
