Despite the implement of education reforms, senior high school students here in Taiwan are still under great academic stress. It has long been a critical issue concerning how to alleviate academic stress to promote mental and physical health. Therefore, this study explore further into the criteria of the relationship among academic stress, leisure coping, and well-being. The subjects of this study are senior high school students in Kaohsiung city. A total of 527 completed questionnaires were collected. Data analysis methods employed were one way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, SEM, regression analysis, and path analysis. The results are as follows: 1.The highest score of academic stress was “individual.” As for leisure coping, “enhancement of positive emotion” got the highest score, while “life satisfaction” of well-being gained the highest score. 2.Students’ grade posed a significant difference in academic stress. The first graders possessed more academic stress than the second graders as well as the third graders. The club participating frequency had no significant difference on leisure coping. However, student’s academic performance possessed significant difference in well-being. Those who performed excellent work in academic performance feel higher degree of well-being in “life satisfaction” and “good interpersonal intelligence.” 3.Leisure coping had positive influence toward well-being, while academic stress gave rise to no significant influence on leisure coping and well-being. 4.Based upon the examination of causality relationship between each observed variant and well-being, 27 paths in the case are found, of which the two paths, “individual→ enhancement of positive emotion→ life satisfaction” and “individual→ enhancement of positive emotion→ good interpersonal intelligence” presented the best effect of the overall model.
