The deep drawing process is affected by many design parameters, such as blank shape, formability characteristics of material, blank holder force and clearance between punch and die, etc. In the drawing process, blank holder and die geometry are very important formability factors for obtaining the optimal products. The main objective of this research is to investigate the effects of blank holder and die shapes and clearance between punch and die, using five different kinds of blank holder and die shapes. Besides, the research also considered the punch force to selection of a suitable machine for drawing process. A numerical simulation model was introduced and applied using the commercial software Abaqus 6.9. A drawing cup deforming process simulation was carried out to verify the numerical simulation model. We measured the distribution of blank holder force and clearance between punch and die for each set of tool geometries. The experiments show that bevel angles of blank holder and die and clearance influence value of blank holder force and quality of product.
