It is especially challengeable to conduct job assignment within a short period of time. This study employs binary integer programming to establish a job assignment model that responds to and resolves related problems. This study examines a certain semiconductor packaging and test factory and uses the proposed job assignment model to assign operators to the production line and compares the assignment results to the rule of thumb currently practiced by shop floor supervisor. The results show that the proposed model performs more effectively in terms of cost control than the heuristic assignment rule.
